not exactly the environment
to save time, let's skip the design step
run away! run away!
youtube: monty python — run away!
there are many opportunities to experience environmental change lately. while that is stressful, we humans are adaptable and that stress is what motivates us to adapt! not all the choices we face are bad — some are a chance to re-imagine how human settlements might look. can we retreat from nature to buffer us from the changes we caused?

would it help if we run away more?
we likely need to retreat from the coasts and forests back to core cities. tho' it’s not really a choice since nature will force our hand. the good news: denser city cores support walkable life and better infrastructure maintenance, while wilding coasts and forests lets nature do the heavy lifting on climate change

honest rogues
there are philosopher-writers i should read more to help me navigate current times: betrand russell, ralph waldo emerson and margaret fuller
it’s because everything old is new again!
He had an instinctive allergy to what he called the ‘rosepink sentimentality’ of reformers, preferring the smirk of an honest rogue to the scowl of a self-righteous prig.

frog and toad have stuff to do
since the pandemic i’ve run nearly 4,000km in a cemetery i call dead people’s park. as far as i can tell, like me, my park companions have made little progress on their to-do lists. they’re not alone in the battle against psychology and time!
